Anyone have a solution to delete a GL segment?

I see that I could do it this way, but there is a limitation. Here is what I would do if I was to delete the last segment:

1) Export GL_Account to Excel/csv

2) Remove the last segment in the Excel sheet.

2) Use Data File Display and Maintenance: GL:AccountStructure.M4T Delete the last record.

3) Do a VI import job into GL_Account

However, this is why the above won't work: The VI data dictionary for GL_Account only has the field Account. Field AccountKey is not available!!!

Does anyone have a solution that they could share???

Your reseller does, call them. Actually you do this in General Ledger Setup, DO NOT attempt to do with VI.

I do subcontracting with resellers and the resellers that I have worked with do not know of this ability. If you know the detail of how to do this, please share.

OK when you talk about deleting a segment please explain in more detail. Are you reducing the number of total characters in the GL account or are you changing from say 5-4-3-2 to 5-4-5

Let me try again. Are you wanting to go from 5-4-3-2 to 5-4-3 That is 14 total characters to 12 total characters or 5-4-5. Still 14 total characters but in a new format.

I just removed one segment from GL account.
1. Use "Change Accounts" utility to merger all sub account in to one account
2. GL_AccountStructure - Delete Segment you want to remove
3. GL_AccountSegment - Delete all Segment you want to remove
4. Change GL_Options - AccountFormat$ - remove segment mask
5. Write a utility(Or use VI) to change Account field in GL_Account and GL_AccountHistory
6. AR_Options, AP_Options may need change "SegmentForSalesPostings$" - N for None
