Can I apply customer balances to each other?

I have one customer with an open balance and another balance with the offsetting credit balance.  Is it possible to do a cash receipt and apply the two customer balances together so that both customers balances zero out like you can in SAP?  This is a really helpful feature that I hope Sage 100 has.

You can do a Zero Cash Receipt.

Select the first customer enter a check number (the date or something), go to lines and select the invoice then do a GL distribution on the next line and choose a cash clearing account.

Select the second customer and do the same thing to that customer being sure to use the same GL account you used on the first customer so it will be a wash.

That's the quick and dirty way to do it anyway.

Are you sure about using a g/l distribution? That wouldn't affect any invoices or credit memos on the two customers. They would still be there.

I'm assuming the goal is to zero out the existing invoices/credit memos. I think same process but selecting the specific invoice and credit memos would accomplish the goal.

    Tom,

First select the invoices/credits and apply the total amount of that invoice/credit to that invoice/credit. Then do a GL distribution on the next line below the invoices/credits for the opposite amount.

That will leave a zero balance on that customer and then do the same thing to the other customer.

    To be more clear

    Customer #1 has a balance of $200.

Select that customer - go to lines - select that invoice for $200 and apply $200 to that invoice. This will leave an Out of Balance of -$200. Do a GL Distribution for -$200 to a cash clearing account (or similar account). This will allow you to accept the distribution.

    Customer #2 has a balance of -$200.

Select that customer - go to lines - select that credit for -$200 and apply -$200 to that credit. This will leave an Out of Balance of $200. Do a GL Distribution for $200 to the same account you used for customer #1. This will allow you to accept that distribution.

Both customers are now have a Zero balance and the GL Distribution account you used will have a net zero amount.
