Role Maintenance for Journal Reversals

You should be able to perform journal reversals without giving security to "create" in Account Maintenance.  You should be able to perform journal reversals if you have "view" or "modify" rights.

  • And the next person who comes along will probably disagree. I think that's why they give you the option.

I have so many things that I think this is the way it should be, but then I find someone who disagrees.

My pet peeve is a/p checks with a date in one month , but posted to the g/l in a different month. As an auditor and cpa for many years, post dating checks is a no no (checks should be recorded when they are released), but I have run across many who insist otherwise.

Really wish they would give us an option to prevent mismatched dates.  It causes so many other problems.

Wait. You need a CREATE right in ACCOUNT MAINTENANCE??? That's not right. GENERAL JOURNAL ENTRY and the right to do a automatic REVERSAL, yes. But account maintenance, no.

My apologies to 6538. I agree with you 100%. I misread your original post.  I confirmed your concern on my own system.

The ability to create a NEW G/L accounts should not affect your ability to do a Reversal. It should require the reversal right however and general journal rights.

I think that is a bug. Sage are you listening?

  • I will be submitting this to Sage engineering team. Thank you for reporting it.
