We are having an issue making a connection between an outside processing PO and the work order.This is what we are currently doing:

(1) Make a sales order for part Y (which is part X plus an outside vendor processing step (i.e. painting))

(2) Make/Complete the Work Order for part X

(3) Make PO for outside painting step

(4) Send out part X to outside processing

(5) Receive part Y from outside processing

(6) Close PO for painting step

The issue with this is that the cost per part of that outside processing step is not being account for in the making of the part, nor are we able to schedule appropriately because the time it takes to make part Y is not accounted for in a routing/work order. So, is there a way to integrate a PO into a WO and make that connection between the two to account for the cost? The time can be accounted for by adding that outside processing step on the routing (2 week lead time). To make things a bit more complicated the outside processing vendor sometimes does not charge per piece - but a bulk price instead. 

Let me know if anyone is running into these issues when having outside processing step!
