I have a client that is exploring the idea of converting their inventory numbers (most are vendor numbers) to be generic numbers that will be sequential. They are a service company that has 16 years of Sage data. Some parts are drop shipped to their customers so their new sequential number will not appear on those items.  Looking for feedback on pros and cons of doing such a change.
