Merging items, "cannot merge Sales Kit to an Item" but no BOM exists

SOLVED

Hello everyone,

I've got myself a peculiar situation and wondering if you could lend me your brain a bit.  This is 100c Advanced 2017 5.4

I'm trying to merge hundreds of Kit items into a corresponding new item code.  In order to merge them, I initialized the BM_Details and BM_Header files (always in a test company first!), and then I was going to VI the header/detail once finished.

But with a test run with 2 randomly picked items, the Delete and Change Items utility gave me the "No Action-cannot merge Sales Kit to an Item" message. I've confirmed the following about both items...

  1. Both use Average Cost valuation
  2. Both use the identical UOMs = EACH for all
  3. Both have no BOM
  4. Both are Finished Good Product type
  5. Both have no open SO/PO

Manually deleting BOM on one or both results the same.

What am I missing here??  Or is this a bug in this version?

Are you sure both items are Finished Good product type.  Look in IM Sales Kit Maintenance for one of the item numbers.

ah, thanks for the bright light!  Because the BOM module has been in use for so many years, I didn't think to see if there was old records in IM_SalesKitHeader and IM_SalesKitDetail.  Sage wouldn't let us use Sale Kit Maintenance when BOM is installed so this was an easy but tricky issue.  Sure enough, the old kit definitions were still in them, and re-initializing them both did the trick.  Thank you!
