How to Uninstall Business Insights

SUGGESTED

We have Business Insights installed in 2017 Advanced but we don't use it,  I tried to Uninstall in System Configuration but the module is not listed there.  Any help is appreciated.

I don't believe you can uninstall it and i wouldn't worry too much about it.

You can attempt to remove it from a company's list of modules but all this is going to do is cause you to have the prompt appear saying the module is not set up if you attempt to access it afterwards.

At the very least, if you don't want it showing up in the menu (if using the Standard desktop), just modify all roles to not have access to it.

I don't really mind having it there.  The real problem is the time it takes to copy the company.  From the Progress Bar prompt, it appears most of the time spent copying is related to Business Insights.  What I'm trying to do is shorten the copy time from the two hours it now takes.  Any ideas?

In that case, try copying your production company to a test company, then make sure no one is accessing the test company. Attempt to remove the module from the test company through company maintenance.

Then try copying the test company to a new test company and see if the delay is gone. If not, it is like another module with a lot of historical data that is taking a while and the progress bar was just reporting it incorrectly as the business insights module.

I copy companies all the time and this happens regularly. Couldn't really find a reason. Some days it completes but others it does not. Happens on small data sets as well as very large ones. I have come to find out that the copying is actually done but the Sage Window remains open and the bar keeps going. If you go to the company data folder via file explorer, you will see that the data size is the same and if you sort by Date Modified you will see that no files are being updated. I just close the task.

Thanks for this.  I'll check Windows Explorer next time.  But there's no Cancel button on the Progress Bar and I've been reluctant to kill the task for fear of data corruption.

I just found KB 69139 which explains why the copy takes so long.  Something about committing encrypted CCard info to the vault for the new company.

Kenny, i do not recommend you kill the task. In addition to copying the physical files, there is other logic being processed.

The available resources on the server at the time of the copy will also impact the time to perform the copy. Disk I/O is the most common performance factor.

If you have any encrypted data (such as credit card or personally identifiable information), that will impact the time to copy the data. This can also be affected by available resources.

David, I agree but in my case it sometimes never closes. There are times where I left it overnight and it's still going in the morning.
