The purge wipes out transaction history, for all items, removing the ability to run history reports.  Check with your CPA / auditors to ensure you are not purging data they require you to keep.

Why do you want to delete items "from the system entirely"?  Destroying accounting / audit data is not to be approached lightly, based on a "want".

Thanks for jumping in again! I really appreciate your input! Thing is, we are using a 3rd party app to help us forecast. Its called SIA - Sage Inventory Advisor. My boss/owner is highly invested in this program and she wants to make sure that all the data that is being transferred over to this program from Sage 100 is 100% accurate/pure.

Now, I have been reaching out to others and if we assign these items to a specific class/category (ex. non-stock/obsolete) then I can reach out to the team that programs SIA and figure out how we can exclude any of those items so it doesn't impact the forecast data.

But that's it in a nutshell. lol

SIA should be able to filter out Inactive / Discontinued items. Both of these fields are programmed into regular Sage 100 and I'd be surprised if SIA didn't already have the ability to filter based on these fields.

Sage 100 is your critical accounting system.  Don't purge important / useful data because of something wrong with an external reporting system (no matter now useful the external tool is). 

Have SIA fix the data transfer.
