SO_SalesHistory mismatch

Hello,

I'm running a simple cross-tab report in crystal reports out of the SO_SalesHistory table. The objective is to simply get sales by item, by month.

For some reason there seems to be a mismatch between the SO_SalesHIstory table, and the history tab in item inquiry.

Why would there be a discrepancy between these two areas, and which one is correct? I get that technically the SO_SalesHistory table says quantity "Shipped" and "Returned", but these should match what was "sold". Any thoughts?

A quick example...

April 2017

Item: ABC, SO_SalesHistory says shipped 296, returned 7. Should leave me with a net of 289. Item inquiry history tab shows 292...

Any thoughts? Maybe I'm just misunderstanding what this table is representing?

I haven't tried rebuilding sort files recently, so I could give that a shot.

Kevin, would you mind elaborating on what you mean exactly? Is there a reason (or a way) that the transaction could post on a different date than the order was invoiced?

There is the face date for the invoice, and the accounting date. These can be different, on a transaction by transaction basis.

The IM History tab, when I click to drill down, shows a Quantity Transaction History screen that indicates year and period. That would be an accounting date grouping. The SO Sales History is likely based on the invoice date (not the accounting date), so the transaction groupings may not be the same.

Oh I see what you're saying. Thank you for clarifying. As a business, we've always left the accounting date to the actual current date, which would keep the accounting and transaction dates the same. I can't think of a single time we've ever had someone change the accounting date in any module.
