It sounds like possibly you have a UDF someone added to the Ci_Item table and made it a required field through advanced field settings or a user defined script.

Miscellaneous items are in the same table and share the same business objects.  You can check in user defined field and table maintenance .

Elliott, we do have an Item Status UDF added to Item Maintenance, but it is not set as a required entry. It's a multi-line field  linked to a table of values to choose from. I can add it to my miscellaneous panel if I need to in order to make it work, although the field isn't really germane to those items and charges.

The table of values is also a list of what is allowed in that field.  I would assume that blank isn't one of the choices in the list.  If it isn't on your the maintenance window then the empty value is probably not considered valid.  As you said, adding the UDF to your panel will probably get around it.

You're right, Tom, That "blank" isn't a choice. I will squeeze it onto the panel, and one of the choices will at least make sense in the context of miscellaneous charges.
