Sub-report.

the problem i have with subreports is when I export them to excel (97-2003) Data-only they never align. the Sub report will be on a different line in excel.

Use a global variable to pass the value out to a main report formula field.

I've never created one, do you have an example report that you can send me?

That works sort of, the problem is I have the Variable Formula in the main report and its only returning 1 thing and its the last record. So if it should have no records, it will return the last data from the previous Item Code. And its only returning 1 item and my AliasItemNo has several including V vendor and G types.

The reset worked like a charm! But when i switched from Shared variable to Global my records disappeared. Shared return 1 record. Global return 0 records on main report, but it does show on the subreport.

Subreport formula
WhilePrintingRecords;
Global StringVar x := {IM_AliasItem.AliasItemNo};

Main Report formula
Global StringVar  x;

shared = global

For each line in your sub-report, add to the string.  Something like this:

shared StringVar x := x + {IM_AliasItem.AliasItemNo} + chr(10) + chr(13);

Put that formula on the sub-report lines (hidden is OK).

That worked for the subreport, but I need it to show multiple records on the main report without using the subreport.

That is what the shared variable is for, appending each value in succession.

shared StringVar x := x + {IM_AliasItem.AliasItemNo} + chr(10) + chr(13)

After the sub-report is done, "x" should have all the lines, so use a formula field to bring it in and display it in the main report.
