Sage 100cloud 2020 Premium Unified Logins

SOLVED

Hi,

We currently use Sage logins/security roles (approximately 400 users) for our system.  We'd love to convert them over to Unified Logins but want to get an idea of how much time/effort it will take to do so.  The idea of implementing this for our users would be fantastic, but we need to make sure it's in the best interest of our company as a whole.   Has anyone done a list of pros/cons?  Thank you!

With Standard / Advanced there is an impact to ODBC access, but with Premium that does not apply.

Watch for utility machines (eg. shipping / warehouse) where there is a generic Windows login, but potentially different Sage users.

"Rename" makes this easier, and maintains user history.  Click Rename (when they are not logged in), type in their Windows login, OK.  Do this in advance, and they can type in the new login until you're ready to flip the switch system wide.  Be sure your Admin logins are set up in Sage before making the change!

If you use VI jobs from a batch file, I believe those still use the password set in User Maintenance (which you can't edit with Unified enabled).

Kevin.  What is the impact to ODBC access?  We are using Advanced and use the CS Driver and are thinking of switching.

The issue is with passwords.  For Advanced / Standard the ODBC access still uses the Sage password, but you can no longer change it once you enable Unified.  Existing Sage logins will have the same ODBC password until the end of time, and new Sage logins will have blank ODBC password.

Premium doesn't have this issue because ODBC queries connect directly to SQL, not through Sage.
