Crystal Report File System Data missing

I was wondering if Crystal report could access a file directory so I did some research and found that File System Data data connection would do that. Awesome until I looked for it on my 2016 Crystal Reports and didn't see it. Did they drop that feature? We even tried the installer again to see if it was an option and didn't see there either.

  • In Database Expert, find & expand the 'More Data Sources' node.
    Then, select 'File System Data'.

Alternatively, you can use a User Function Library (UFL) with file functions such as checking if files exist, copying, and deleting files.
Ken Hamady maintains a listing of Crystal Reports UFLs here.
