Sage ERP Mas 90 - Customize Custom Look up with Bin location

SOLVED

Using version 4.50.70.0. I need to add bin location to the item inquiry and item maintenance look up fields. So when I go to Item Inquiry or Maintenance, then the look up magnifying glass and I use the custom tab. I can add just about everything I want EXCEPT bin location.

How do I add bin location? I know it's an available field in the explorer, but I want it in the lookup.

Please!

    Cannot be done. In v4.50 the ALE in Inventory can only look at one table, the Item Master File. As the Bin location is in the Item Warehouse file it is not available.

    Louie is there another version that can? Like a minor upgrade?

    DavidHWBT - No, upgrading won't fix this for you.  BigLouie mispoke about only one table being available for lookups in v4.5.  But he was right that the table you need isn't available in v4.5 lookups.  It's not available in v5 either.

    Thank you Helium. What version DOES have this ability? Are there any work around type solutions? Mas90 crushes with all the data and options, seems so odd to leave this one out.

    Hi @DavidHWBT,

    Are you using multiple warehouses?  Is the end goal to use the lookup as an inquiry to see the bin location of a lot of items at once?  The reason this is not available in the ALE lookup is that this Item-Warehouse table could have more than one Bin-Location for each item, one per warehouse.

    We do use multiple warehouses, but each item can only have one bin location in each warehouse. The idea is when I am searching for a widget, and I use "widget" as the search term in description contains on the look up, I can see all the widgets at once, and call out the locations without having to go into each file two levels deep. IE: "Check AB1..." No thats not it, okay theres another style on CD4.. etc. All from the search. Currently I use one inquiry and one maintenance at the same time, search in one, and call the likely part up in the other to get the location so I can go look for it, while preserving the search in the original.

    @DavidHWBT,

    I haven't found any kind of lookup that is based on the Item Warehouse file in MAS 90.

    The Inventory Stock Status Report Work file contains the information I think you want.  As a workaround, you could customize a version of this report to use as an inquiry.  Default to sort by warehouse/bin location, remove fields not required and rearrange the rest for easy reading, remove the Page by Warehouse and setup selection by Contains Description or whatever is appropriate. Default it to stay open for preview so it is quickly available.  Minimize until needed.

    It's not a query but it should work.  Perhaps someone could do something with a script or BOI.
