I'm getting the "unable to obtain list of tables from the data source" after logging into the SOTAMAS90 ODBC, when trying to do a step-by-step Mail Merge in Word.

This process worked when we were using the 2014 version, but after the 2015 upgrade, it has not worked.

You are not using the old MSOffice button in Sage 100/MAS 90, are you? This is straight outa Word?

I haven't used that in ages. Sorry I can't be more help.

Straight from Word (2013 version). Tried the suggestion in the link, but it didn't help. I've duplicated the issue on two computers, two separate clients.

Have you considered creating a silent ODBC data source that has credentials stored?

I tried a silent ODBC connection, and it didn't work. The error occurs after you enter the company, user id, and password if it's not a silent connection.

I ran in to this same issue when setting up Bartender for us. I ended up creating an access database that contained pass through queries and pointing a data source to the access database. I have some examples of pass-through queries is you are unfamiliar with them.
