migration tool incorrectly ran - MAS_SYSTEM missing data? corrupt or mismatched data

What daily changes occur to the MAS_SYSTEM database on a previously installed, in production, stable Sage/MAS
implementation with normal use?

We had to restore this database from a backup 6 hours old. We want to know if it is possible we are missing data (data about data) or metadata.

Sage Tech connected up and inadvertently ran some migration tools on OUR LIVE PRODUCTION SERVER.

This caused a loss of service to our CSR's in the form of messages such as: "The credit card encryption key is invalid. See your system administrator." and inability to open Customer Maintenance or Sales Order Entry

Service is restored, but we dont really know what went wrong, if it is truly corrected, or if some data is changed or missing / mismatched. Please advise!!!
