Possible to add editable UDFs to Invoice History?

Hello, 

Our accounting team inquired about the possibility of making the "Comment" field on Sales Orders editable even after they are put into the history table.I do not believe this is possible, but was hoping that it IS possible to add a NEW "Comments" UDF to the Inoivce History table that would be editable. 

They want to be able to mark certain orders "RMA Return", "Pending other", etc, and to be able to view/change this status while viewing these invoices under Customer Maintenance ->Invoices. 

Anyone know of a way to do this, or of any creative workarounds to this problem? This was just brought to me so I'm brainstorming, but currently do not have a solution.

    I'll claim "DEFINITE MAYBE".  I see that you can use VI to import into AR_invoice_history_header so I think it could be possible.

    The invoice history inquiry screens only have an OK button and I suspect that would not perform a write back.

    My gut reaction would be that you would have to add a button and a script that would then control that you could only change the UDF.

    All I can say is that you would just have to try it.

    I'm confirming / converting Tom's "DEFINITE MAYBE" into a "DEFINITELY" and in the way he described. You could alternatively have the Acct dept put together and Excel sheet with a list of invoice numbers with their desired comments in a different column. Then save as CSV file and put that in a V/I import. Definitely run the import in a test company first.
