MAS 200 connection disappears

This is an old (yes very old) installation of MAS 200. The server is running on a Windows 2000 SP4 system. We have head office using MAS locally and 5 branch offices connecting via VPN connections.

We have one branch office where all users report that if they leave their MAS open but unused for over 1/2 hour, then when they try to use it again, as soon as they click anything in the launcher, it all disappears and they have to re-open MAS.

This happens to no one at head office nor to anyone at any of the 4 other branches. I am able to replicate the issue on an unused computer at that branch and what I see on the server "Mass 200 Host" program is quite interesting: each computer listed in the display has at least one process running and that is MAS90 (the MAS 200 Launcher) and then if they have any modules running each module shows as a separate process. So far this is normal. and on my test computer at the broken branch, if I open MAS and then run the "Sales Order Entry" module, what I see in the server side "MAS 200 Host" program for that test computer are the 2 processes: MAS90 and SOWDAA. This is also normal. But after 30 - 60 minutes of inactivity at my test computer, I see that it's MAS 90 process has disappeared from the "MAS 200 Host" display on the server and although the MAS 200 launcher is still visible on the test computer, but as soon as I click anything on it, it just disappears along with any modules I have open.

I pretty much have forgotten the old Application Server program in MAS 200. Are (were) there settings like Keep Alives and Re-Connect, like we always turn off in Sage 100?
Otherwise I would agree with the advice above, I had an issue like that where the NIC card had a power saving mode that shut it down after a while, very annoying but fixable.

well I found only one timeout setting, in the [ODBC] section of "sota.ini". I changed it from 45 to 90. I also went into the NIC settings and turned off: "Green Ethernet", "Energy Efficient Ethernet" and "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power". We'll see...
