Is it just me being haunted by Paperless Error -30 and -40? Happening even on current releases

For customers who are on v2021 these paperless office type error messages continue to appear. It is most noticeable/problematic for any user where they are not a local administrator on their computer as that requires we pull in IT resources.

I suggest that one change could be to the test converter functionality  which is accessed through pl_advancedoptions_ui

I have seen in many ( all ) cases where I am doing hand-to-hand combat with this Amyunit/Paperless driver that the driver will test fine ( test converter ) but the customer will continue to receive errors ( generally -30 or -40 ).

Super big time waster chasing these errors

  • I have found that after running workstation setup after an upgrade to 2021, I had to then uninstall and reinstall the driver.  I wish sage would make the pl_advancedoptions_ui available off the menu instead of the run command for security purposes.

One of my concerns is that for some workstations the testing of the PDF succeeds yet the end-user continues to get error messages.

I had one yesterday in a highly secure environment ( aka - the user was not local administrator ) where installing the PDF, uninstalling, verifying the registry permissions ( unsure if this is still in play for 2021 ) and verifying security permissions on the local PDF driver didn't seem to work.

Ultimately we changed the user to local admin, reinstalled using pl_advancedoptions_ui and then paperless started to work. We backed their permissions back to "normal".

This is an area ripe for a more up-to-date KB which shows:

    - By Sage version, what Amyuni driver should be on the system

    - By Sage version, what permissions are needed on the registry, local PDF

    - More concise steps to completely remove old AMYUNI drivers from Windows so that there is less of a chance that the updated Windows Amyuni gives a gut punch to the Sage Amyuni.

I know that much of this info may exist in various KB but it seems to be scattered around different articles. Some of the info is buried midway through the article. Virtually no Sage KB indicates for what version the knowledge applies ( I know some do but a frustrating number don't ).
