Mas200 Crash

Hi all,

My Mas200 server crashed.  The windows 2000 server wont boot up and I ended up taking the 4 hard drives from the raid 5 configuration to a data recovery service to retrieve the drive contents.

The recovery service was able to retrieve most of the data files.  The only unretrievable files were the os system files.

My question is, how do i transfer the old data into a fresh install of Mas200 so I can access the company data again?

The Mas 200 installation were more than 20 years old.  Can I still get the software from the Sage company and install it on a computer?

The best option would be licensing a current version of Sage 100, working with your Sage Partner to get that installed, and migrate the data from the recovered files (MAS90 folder) into the new system.  (I assume you were not running the SQL version of MAS200... which would be a lot harder to do anything with).

Trying to get a truly ancient piece of software running on a modern operating system will involve a lot of time / effort on something that will be unreliable at best, and absolutely unsupported by anyone.

Kevin is 100% correct, that is the best course of action.

I do however understand that there will be possible challenges with making something like that happen quickly depending on many other factors. As you were running a very old version on a very old OS, I am going to guess that your workstations may not be up to date either. There are many moving parts that need to be aligned to get this done right and quickly.  I am going to guess we are looking at a 3.x or 4.x version of Sage 100 (MAS 200)

My email address is on my profile. You can feel free to reach out to me and I am happy to get more information and help you with what options might be best to get you up and running quickly and correctly. I have handled recovery and upgrades recently for other companies with systems of similar age, as recently as a month ago, so my team and I would definitely be able to help.

Ted, what did you finally do to resolve?
