Sage100 Premium SQL Transaction Backups

We just upgraded to Sage100 2016 Premium (yes BL, we are no longer on v 4.2).

We are setting up SQL Backups and having issues with the SQL Transactional Backups. They are enormous in size and killing our drive space.

Is there anyone that can help our DBA with reducing the size of the transactionals, or is this a known issue that we cannot avoid? Our nightly backups are performing normally.

When you do a full database backup the log files should reset to being empty. There is a shrink command available, but it sounds like you're backing up the MDF / LDF files directly, not creating proper SQL backups. MS has some decent documentation on how to work with the different backup commands that should clarify things. Sage 100 specific guidance is unnecessary, except for knowing which databases to back up.
