Payroll Error as entering. Check printing in Process. Do you want to Continue?

We are entering payroll data and started receiving messages that "Check Printing is in progress. Do you want to continue?". When reviewing the General Ledger we see last week has not been posted. Checks were printed last week and direct deposit was processed. Any idea what is going on? Sounds like last week some how was not actually closed out.  How does that affect posting and will this week be messed up because of it?

Any thoughts or ideas would be helpful.

    Do not do any data entry until you post the check register from last week. That  means you didn't update the check register.  If you proceed you will make yourself a big mess.

    Print the check register and post as normal then you can do data entry.  As long as you do the correct date for the register and DTR you will be fine.
