SAGE 100 eBusiness Module Struggles - Alternatives?

Hello and glad to be part of SAGE City!

I am new to a relatively small company that is running SAGE 100, and the company has been trying to launch an eBusiness site for B2B orders for quite some time. We have been trying to use the SAGE eBusiness module but have run into numerous road blocks - ~30 second search speeds, trouble generating automatic emails, troubles with generating sales orders, etc.

Our major concern at this point is the search speed, as we are troubleshooting the other problems with some success. It appears as if the problem with search speeds stems from the fact that we have ~28,000 items within SAGE and the eBusiness search function searches through ALL items, not just internet enabled items. Searches within categories do not take as long, but are still running ~8-10 seconds, which is essentially not functional from a customer perspective. Does anyone have experiences with optimizing the eBusiness search function that they would like to share?

I was told by a very helpful SAGE tech that the eBusiness module has effectively not been updated in a number of years because it was not widely adopted and that most SAGE customers that have eBusiness sites use third party options for both the eBusiness platform and for integration into SAGE.

Does anybody have any experience with successfully using the eBusiness module within SAGE to run an eBusiness site?

Otherwise, does anybody have experience with using third party platforms for an eBusiness site and recommendation for who to use to integrate the eBusiness platform with SAGE?

We are somewhat at a loss here and figure that this has been successfully pulled off by a SAGE customer. Recommendations for third parties would be GREATLY appreciated if it is determined that using the eBusiness module within SAGE is simply not feasible.

Thank you so much for reading and hopefully there are some with far more experience than I who are willing to share.

  • Moving this post to the Sage 100 Support Group so that other users of this software will see it and can offer you their thoughts and insight.

    Thanks,

  • We have been using eBusiness Manager for many years, and have found that it is very limited.  We have over 43,000 inventory items and a full catalog search takes ~8 seconds.

We are currently in the process of upgrading to Sage 100 2018, and we will then be choosing a new e-commerce solution.  We have looked at Clearnine, Kissinger and Website Pipeline.

    Good luck in your search!

  • cimcloud (fka Website Pipeline) for e-commerce sites integrated to Sage 100, Insynch (roi-consulting.com) for situations where the website already exists but you need a sync between the site and Sage.

  • It's also been my understanding that the e-Commerce module hasn't been updated, only migrated from version to version. Many people seem to use external websites, then import the orders via Visual Integrator or, if they want something more automated, using Business Objects Interface (like our company does). Orders can be imported with a deposit amount to mark them paid, and can optionally be imported "on hold" until someone reviews the order and releases it. We also sell on Amazon and use the same functionality to import orders into Sage 100.

  • I have been hearing rumors that Sage is getting ready to introduce and new E-Commerce option although I haven't seen any specifics yet.

    Stay tuned.

They had introduced eBusiness Web Services and  that never went anywhere, so why a new offering?

I can't tell you.  I'm not an insider either.   And it could just be a rumor.

, any chance you could provide more details on what your company is doing?  I've been searching for an ecommerce for a while and have come to a dead end.  Your comment may have the solution I've been looking for.

We have a separate e-Commerce website. Daily, we have automated uploads of our products to make sure everything is kept in sync. (We don't update our products that often, so daily is more than enough for us.) Orders are downloaded every 15 minutes and imported into Sales Order Entry using Business Objects interface script.

  • This is an old post but where the webengine is installed in relation to the application data, can effect the speed of searches.
