Taxes get calculated automatically in Sage 100 when you set an appropriate Tax Schedule.  No need to import them.

We don't currently have the tax schedules set up.  Is this the only way to input taxes?  We can't manually enter them?

We've used /TAX charge lines when we need to set the amounts specifically (adding your own misc code / GL account for each tax type being used). 

As far as I am aware, the tax tables are for use with the Sage business objects only.

So how would I be able to add that through VI into a sales order as /TAX?

Restructure your input data to have a line for each tax amount.

Kevin, I'm getting an error saying that the /TAX "item type needs to be Regular, Special, or M...." I'm guessing that says miscellaneous.  Is seems I can't add a "charge" type.  But if I use the other item types, it will need a price associated with it... am missing something?

Open Misc Item Maintenance and add your code as a "Charge" type (doesn't require a quantity).  Don't set a default price... that will be part of your import.

You could use *TAX instead, but then you'd have to set the GL account manually (instead of that being stored in the Misc Charge settings).

With a charge you just import the Extended value.  Enter one in the UI manually to see how it is done.

I got it!  I had to add the tax to the "extended amount" and place it before the "unit cost" because if you place it after, it wipes out the unit cost.  Thanks for your help!!

Be sure you run this configuration by your Accountant for their verification you're doing things properly from an accounting perspective.  They may want different types of taxes recorded separately.
