Data Pointers

Recently upgraded from Sage 100 v2019 to v2022.

I discovered that my v2019 is reading the same data as the v2022.

How do I confirm that my v2022 install is pointing at the correct data files?

I was hoping to run the v2019 to see and copy my Favorites menus but every change I make in 2022 is reflected in 2019.
I expected to be able to see the old and the new side by side.

What exactly makes you say v2019 is reading the same data as v2022?

Some workstation files are shared, like your launcher favorites. Those settings are stored in your local My Documents folder, not in the server path.

For Standard / Advanced: SOTAMAS90 queries will be pointed at the data for the most recent Sage 100 login on that workstation.

For a Premium upgrade, if whoever did the upgrade moved the upgraded SQL databases back to the original instance, they should have disabled absolutely everything to do with v2019 pointing at that same SQL instance.

Hmmm... Update.  It was the Favorites that made me think v2019 was reading the v2022 data so I looked at my most recent SO Invoices.  I had forgotten I processed a few May invoices before the migration... there isn't any duplication.  The Payroll I processed today is NOT in v2019.

So I am probably good at this point.  I just don't know if I can retrieve my Favorites from the 2019 install.  If not I'll rebuild from scratch.

Do you mean the Classic launcher's My Tasks?  There's a utility to import those as Favorites.

Not My Tasks.  Favorites.  I use them as checklists for Month End closings for each module and Quarterly processing for Payroll.

I recreated the one for Payroll Processing in v2022 today - it's simple.
It showed up in v2019 when I looked for the other Favorites I had set up.

So apparently at least the Favorites is in a common space for both installations and they didn't come over with the migration.  Maybe there is still a file in v2019 I could copy into the same location for v2022.  That would be helpful but it's not a huge job to rebuild the lists... it's just remembering what they were.

The new Favorites are stored in the local Documents folder, for your Windows profile.  If you were using the new Launcher in the previous version, your previous Favorites should be there already.

Prior to the update in the Sage Launcher, there was no "Favorites" feature... it was called My Tasks (using the Classic launcher) which were stored in a different place.
