Assuming your g/l already has balances, you may wish to turn off the link between inventory and the g/l temporarily so you don't get postings to the g/l while adding in the inventory. Alternatively you can leave the link on and then make a journal entry to back out any postings.

The other things to watch out for is if you use physical count entry, you may or may not get the desired cost values of the items during the update depending on valuation methods and what has been previously run through the system. Print out the physical count update journal and verify you are getting what you want. If you don't (which I strongly suspect may be the case), you may have to use inventory transaction entry to receipt the items in at the value you want.

Please note that you should not use Physical Count to bring in your beginning inventory balances. You cannot assign a cost that way. The preferred method is to use Inventory Transaction Entry - Adjustments. This way you can assign specific cost to FIFO, Lot or Serial tiers. As my esteemed friend Tom noted you should turn off G/L integration when bringing in beginning balances.

As I've dug into this a little deeper, I am finding out we already have some in the system, so I will apply your solutions for the inventory not yet in the system. I would like for them to start using locations. Any repercussions in adding bin location via "Add item to physical inventory - fields" for items already in the system? ...Thanks

None at all. In out of the box Sage 100, the bin location is really just a memo anyway.

Note that MAS errrr Sage 100 is NOT a multi-bin location. You can assign a bin location in Inventory Maintenance either manually or through import but it is strictly a one to one relationship between warehouse and bin.
