Hello...We are an IT consulting firm. We have a customer who was running Sage 2013 Standard edition. This particular customer had about 10 users connecting to Sage ERP 100 on a shared server. The Windows 2012 server was also running Exchange 2013. They had one specific issue which was drastically affecting their production. They have orders that oftentimes have 300+ lines. So the issue they had on 2013 was that when they went into Shipping and loaded the grid of the line items and hit the Packaging button it would take minutes to load the packaging screen. And when they exit the packaging screen it would hang there for about 45 seconds before it got back to the shipping screen. Obviously with a 300+ line order would take forever to process through the shipping module.
So here was what we did with the assistance of a Sage reseller.. We installed a new high end server running WIndows 2012 R2 dedicated to running Sage ERP 100 Standard. The problem still existed. It was identical. The customer then upgraded to Sage 2016 ADVANCED from 2013 standard running on the dedicated windows 2012 R2 server. Again the issue is identical as described above. Now we reviewed all the normal things like the Antivirus settings (Sophos) and made sure all the normal exclusions are defined. We also completely removed Anti-virus software and ran naked and the issue still had the issue above. The network speed on their network is gigabit so network performance is not the issue. They are running CAT 6 cable so all is good there.
We even installed the workstation setup on the server itself and ran the process from the server and we had the exact same issue above. Doing this should take all the external items (AV, network, etc) out of the loop. DNS is good and all is well. When this hanging process actually happens we can bring up take manager and see that the CPU is churning but not at all exhausted. If we bring up an order with less that 10 lines all is well and it works perfectly.
We also tried to check the box in user maintenance to Spawn a process from the server. No luck.
SO, the main question is is this a known issue? Since we had this issue with Sage ERP 2013 and 2016 (Standard and advanced) is this simply an issue due to the large number of line items on the orders? Is this just an design issue with the shipping/packaging module in Mas90? Can they ever expect to get better performance in this situation? They are reluctant to spend any more $$$ on this situation since it does not seem to be helping. To us the issue just seems that the Sage ERP 100 shipping/packaging function can not handle large orders in an efficient way and the solution might be to tell the customer to break that order into smaller orders. This would be a big issue for them internally.
Thanks again for any input on this issue.
