Using Premium edition and still get the same error.  Only runs with "run as Admin"

@Terry_G, did you mean it works (no error) if launched as Admin? If UAC is already set to lowest, try running REGACC first. Then run again. If it still doesn't work there might be a way to tweak the registry. Give me your email and I will send you a PDF file with the steps. I also need to know what OS you're using.

I mean it does "NOT" work at all.  I get a debug window with characters that has CS62A0 at the end of the line. Closing this window brings up the "cannot find shared data" message.

I made sure that I was using the Premium HF, re-ran regacc and tried to launch.  Error message comes up.  If I "run as Administrator" then it will run just fine.

I'm using w/s install on win8.1 workstation with programs on Win2008r2.  UAC is set to lowest level.

You say it does not work at all, then that it runs fine as admin.  This is confusing.  If run as admin works OK then isn't this expected behaviour?  I'd never ever run an install other than run as admin.

I think he means when he runs Sage 300 as admin it works, otherwise not.

Are you using a mapped drive for your shared data?

No mapped drive.  Using UNC.

My offer still stands. Give me your email and I will send you something to try on your Win 8 registry. It involves tweaking your SID settings in the registry.

The workaround in the registry to add SharedData path in HKEY_USERS\<user's SID>....\ACCPAC\Configuration worked for Terry_G.
