Updating price list item descriptions from inventory item descriptions

SOLVED

Hi, I would like to update the item descriptions on all price lists to match the item descriptions in the regular I/C Items file.  If I were comfortable in MS SQL I'm sure it's not difficult to do there.

But I believe it can also be done by exporting a table to Excel, making appropriate changes, and re-importing.  I've seen our Sage consultant do similar things, including this description update, but I'd like to learn to do it on my own.  I'm quite familiar with Excel.  I often export files from Sage to Excel and make reports from them, but I've never done an import.

Can somebody tell me the steps?

Thanks,

Nathan

Thank you very much!  A few other questions please:

    1.  Is it advisable to do the import when nobody else is using our Sage 300 ERP, or does it make no difference?

    2.  Although I don't plan to do this, would it still work fine if I deleted all the irrelevant columns before changing and importing?  If I just kept the first column, which is presumably the key, and then the column I changed, and made sure to keep the headers, would that actually work or not?

Or is it going to ask me an append/update/replace question when I do the import?
