Sage 300 2014 ERP PU1 and PU2 works on Microsoft Surface with Windows 8.1 Pro

One of our customers V.P. of sales has a Microsoft Surface with Windows 8.1 Pro.  2/3/14 SAGE 300 ERP PU2 loads but fails on connecting to company. The customer tried repeatly to remove Sage 300 2014 PU1 and re-install Sage 300 PU2.

we opened a  case#8004272818 but SAGE currently will not support the SURFACE with SAGE 300 ERP.

Here is what I did. I researched and the found out the Surface comes with  Windows 8.1 Pro or Windows 8.1 RT.

Windows 8.1 Pro whether on a surface or a Pc, is Windows 8.1 pro! And the Sage Compatibility matrix – more research – shows it is supported.

I am please to announce that the Microsoft Surface works on SAGE 300 ERP 2014 PU2 with SAGe 300 and SAGE CRM 7.2 e hf#3 with full integration and support with Outlook .

Please note that the Sage uninstaller does not corrrectly remove Sage 300 ERP 2014.  As I did, you have to use a tool to completely remote Sage 300 ERP 2014 from the registry.

Thanks for sharing the information. Would you mind telling us how you confirmed that the uninstaller did not completely remove the application? I'm curious to know if this is specific to the OS on the device or if it's a universal issue with the uninstaller. As for the tool you mentioned, is it the Windows Fixit utility?

After we restarted the Microsoft Surface, Sage 300 ERP remained in the Control Panel add/remove programs and you could go though the uninstall again and each time , it would still be there.

Of course, you could re-install and only one Sage 300 ERP installation would be listed but Windows was not removing the registry keys.

Sage 300 ERP 2014 Pu would open but you would error when you logged into a company.

I used Advanced Uninstalled and it showed me the keys to remove. Then I checked them off to be removed. Restarted and things went smoothly; end of story.

I did not  try Windows Fixit.

Thanks Dennis. I've also seen that issue on a couple Win 8.1 PCs. We too were able to get Sage 300 ERP on Surface Pro working but it was only a quick test. We wanted to see a consistent behavior of Sage 300 between a regular Win 8.1 PC and Surface Pro but that's not what we've seen so far. I then requested our QA team to include Surface Pro in the testing so it can be officially supported.
