Financial Report Writer blank screen, extremely long time to process issue..

Accpac 2016, PU1, Excel 2016 32 bit.  Excel add-on for financial report writer IS added to Excel.  Excel is part of Office 365 on the workstation..

When you run the print financial statements function, Excel comes up and it appears to run through all the accounts very quickly. The client does NOT have a large chart of accounts...   then the screen goes to an outlined blank gray screen, and sits there for a long time. Eventually, the report will come up, but the client has had wait times of 5 and 10 minutes... not really acceptable. 

Is there any way to speed this up?  When the upgrade to 300 2016 was first done, the reports came up quickly, although prior to the update, we saw the same behaviour. Now it is back to not working very well.  I disabled virus checker, etc., to see if that might be causing the issue. 

Any ideas or direction to point me to is greatly appreciated.  TIA...
