GL Trial Balance and AP Aged Payables report totals do not match

Hi.  I am having a problem getting my GL balance and my AP Aged Payables report totals to match.  No matter what combination I enter, due date, document date, period end date; they will not equal.  I searched for help on this board with related questions but as I have no accounts/vendors on hold it does not make a difference.  My accountant is wondering if it is a timing issue of when the payables hit the GL. When entering payables for the previous period in the current month I back date the batch date to the month end I am doing, enter the invoice date on the invoice and post.  Then, when the system pulls the report, it should be pulling all invoices for that specific period.  I cannot eliminate the prepayments as they are included in  the GL balance. As there are so many ways to get the same report, is there one that works the best? Also, we work with multiple currencies, does pulling the report in functional currency affect it? As my GL is in functional currency it should be the same.

Thank you for your help.  I look forward to figuring this out.

Run both with a future date (say 12/31/2017) and compare balances.

The GL reports by Year/Period. Print the AP reports by Year/Period for comparison. Print in Functional Currency for easier comparison. Verify all AP entries are posted in the GL. Examine the GL Posted transactions for entries made directly in the GL (source GL) that didn't come from the AP. Someone could have made an adjustment to the wrong account by mistake. In addition to comparing future year/periods, verify last year or the previous years. Was the AP to GL ever in balance? If you find a Year/Period in balance, move forward until they are out of balance and start examining those transactions.

In addition to what MusickInt mentioned, also check your Account Sets. If you have Prepayments going to a different account than your Payables Account, then you need to uncheck it as a document type to include in the report.

Another thing to check if all the above still doesn't match, is for contra entries to the Payables account being done through AP entries.

(You never mentioned which version of Sage 300 you are on, and thus, the assumption being made is you are using a version that had the cutoff being able on Year/Period.)
