In the summer of 2023, Sage will be making changes to your license verification to utilize a current Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocol recommended by third-party standards organizations. This measure is required as older versions of TLS do not meet current security standards and can pose a security risk. If you have a subscription business care plan and are not on a supported version of Sage 300 your software will go into read-only mode. If you are using an unsupported version of Sage 300, please reach out to your Partner or contact Sage Expert Services at [email protected] to discuss upgrading your software.

Given Sage 2023 is due for release this month does that mean Sage 2020 will be considered Unsupported?

Thanks

Stacey

    1. Why have Australian "partners" not received this directly from our "partner managers"?

    2. This is exactly why we would not touch Sage Subscription licencing with a barge pole. Sage can not guarantee the systems our customers pay a lot of money for and rely on to survive will keep working from one day to the next.

    SUGGESTED

Thank you for your comments, our colleagues at Sage Australia will be reaching out directly to those Partners that have Subscription customers to advise them of upcoming changes. As Subscription customers in the region are using current versions of Sage 300  2021 or 2022 they may not have to take any action.

Kathleen, Please do not assume that because customers have their subscription codes, that they are on the latest version.
Notifications like this should be going to all partners, with no ASSUMPTIONS being made by Sage.

Also, why lock up businesses? They may not be using the TLS layer to email, they may have a reason like an integration or third party product that is stopping them from upgrading to the current version and the whole idea that you lock up a client's business is abhorrent.

Hi the above response was regarding only customers within the Australian region based on information that I have been provided. This information was sent out to the Primary Contact for all Partners in North America at the same time that it was sent to customers. We also posted it into the Partner Hub well ahead of sending it to customers. The TLS change is not at all related to how people email and is completely separate from the basic authentication change. The TLS changes are regarding communications with our licensing servers.

Kathleen, I'm from the Australian region.
My point is still the same, clients may not be able to upgrade due to third party products and locking their databases is unconscionable.

Hi Eva. It is my understanding that the Australian region does not use the same licensing servers as the North America region, and will not be impacted by this change. I have updated my post in Announcements, News & Alerts to make it clear that the target audience is the North America region.

So only North America customers nee to worry about what Eva mentioned.  This is a classic reason why Subscription Licenses are a bad idea.  Go back to Perpetual Licenses!!
