2023 PU1 runs fine for all our clients.  Did you perhaps change server names during the upgrade?  After that, make sure Sage folders are excluded from antimalware scanning.

no change of server name.   client feels that a big part of problem is Paya....do you by any chance have a client with that installed too?

Yes, Paya is not a problem as long as their internet is fast, and no antimalware is trying to filter internet traffic.

Some suggestions:

1. Connection speed between client and SQL and client and Applications server is the #1 cause in my book of performance issues.  Best way to test is to download an app such as Speed Test Lite and test transferring a 5GB file between the client and a share on the SQL server, and the client and a share on the Application server.  If the transfer rate is below 400mbit then things are going to be slow.  Under 100mbit and performance will be horrifically slow.  I always aim for 800mbit+.  If you have infrastructure people managing your servers and network, ask them to do some transfer testing and let you know the results.
2. If you transferred databases to a new server using SQL backup and restore, or generally made a lot of changes, the indexes could be fried.  Rebuild the indexes on your Sage 300 databases or at least re dump and load the databases using DB Dump and Load.
3. Cheque SQL isn't consuming all available memory on the SQL server.
4. If you upgraded SQL server version, make sure you upgraded the databases to the latest SQL version and that they're not running in compatibility mode.
5. If you're running Sage 300 of Local Workstations, make sure you're not connecting back to the servers over a VPN.  You must use Remote Desktop Services or similar if you wish to access Sage 300 classic screens from remote locations.
6. Make sure you're not running SQL Express if you upgraded servers as its limited to using 1GB memory.

We had performance issues after upgrading to 2023 PU1 - Windows Defender was culprit. Had to turn it off.

Greg, my client also uses defender....but they refuse to turn it off. (see below)

Exclusions are applied.  

Both to the folders and to all processes/applications within those folders.  

Essential Sage and all ancillary applications are completely free of any antivirus.  

Beyond that 

Completely turning off antivirus is NOT an option. 

Hi Julie, how long does it take to copy a 5GB zip file from a Sage 300 workstation to the share where the SITE folder is located?  Best regards.

Have you checked the PATH in the environment variable settings?
