2023 PU1 runs fine for all our clients. Did you perhaps change server names during the upgrade? After that, make sure Sage folders are excluded from antimalware scanning.
no change of server name. client feels that a big part of problem is Paya....do you by any chance have a client with that installed too?
Yes, Paya is not a problem as long as their internet is fast, and no antimalware is trying to filter internet traffic.

We had performance issues after upgrading to 2023 PU1 - Windows Defender was culprit. Had to turn it off.
Greg, my client also uses defender....but they refuse to turn it off. (see below)
Exclusions are applied.
Both to the folders and to all processes/applications within those folders.
Essential Sage and all ancillary applications are completely free of any antivirus.
Beyond that
Completely turning off antivirus is NOT an option.
