Sage 300 2020 application Server in-place upgrade from windows server 2012 to 2016

Hello

We are planning to upgrade the SAGE application server running on Windows Server 2012R2 Datacentre operating system, hosting the following SAGE software's.

Sage 300 Intelligence Reporting 2017 Workstation

6.4.7601.0009

Sage 300 Intelligence Reporting 2019 Workstation

6.6.7601.0001

Sage 300 2020

6.7

Sage 300 .NET Libraries 2020

6.7.0

Sage CRM Synchronization Component

6.7.00

Sage Advisor Update

2.4.0.0

Sage CRM 200

We would like to get them running on windows server 2016 datacentre desktop version.

I just wanted to pose the question to see if an in place upgrade of the OS is supported, or works if anyone has tried this.

If not what does a migration from a Windows Server 2012R2 system to another Windows Server 2016 system, look like.

I'm not seeing much out there on this type of scenario.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

As a failback plan, we have VMware snapshots, clone of the VM's along with data and server backups (on hypervisor level) will be in place before the planned upgrade is initiated.

The intended upgraded process will be as follows, please confirm if the sequence confirms to the Sage application’s requirements:

    1. Stop services and set services to “Disabled” Startup type.
    2. Disable network connectivity to server.
    3. Perform in-place upgrade from Server 2012 R2 Standard to Windows Server 2016 Standard.
    4. Carry out several server- and health related checks and tests relating to the OS only.
    5. Activate Windows Server 2016 Standard.
    6. Set services to “Automatic” startup type and start services.
    7. Perform end-user testing.
    8. Enable network access to server.
    9. Perform hypervisor level backup.

    Please confirm the following:

    1. Is the Sage application supported on Microsoft Server 2016 Standard.
    2. Are there any dependencies to the Sage application which require upgrading before- or after upgrading the server OS? And if so…
      1. Please confirm the dependency(ies) name and recommended version.
      2. Confirm the specific order sequence in which upgrades are required, if applicable.
    3. Are there any integrations from the Sage software to another application, configured by Sage? And if so…
      1. To which server/ platform (please provide IP address).
      2. What ports are used for the integration(s) to communicate?
