I believe the password reset tool requires the VAULT password to reset the ADMIN password. It does not reset the VAULT password.

Reset tool says "successfully reset the password for the ADMIN sage 300 user. I assume Vault in SQL = Admin in Sage 300?

But after the resetting the password, it still says "incorrect password".

Hi digitmasters what is your local password policy in SQL?  Has your new Sage 300 ADMIN password been used previously and does it meet your policy requirements?  If re-use and complexity are not the problem, try resetting the password after hours to something new then try restarting the SQL service before attempting to login with the new ADMIN password.

You are brilliant! restarting the SQL service BEFORE attempting to login with the new ADMIN password did the trick.

I think the actual reason was Group or Local Password Policy is set to 1 day which means the password has to "exist" for one day before it can be changed.. so restarting the SQL Service may have worked, it's more likely that the new day had started by the time you restarted and updated the password.

You can get around this error the next time by setting this to 0 days. 

But glad it's working for you.. 

both max and min password age were set to 0 when the problem happened. but happy it is working now.
