Payroll 7.2 upgrade

SOLVED

I need to test 7.2 payroll for a client running Sage 300 2012 with 6.0 payroll
2012 is running PUP3
UP 60 is running PUP3

The install says "cannot determine program edition"
Do I need to upgrade Payroll to 7.0 and then go to 7.2?

I was testing the same a few weeks ago on a similar environment, 2012 PU3 with UP 60. I have not been able to upgrade directly to 7.2 from 6.0. However, I was able to upgrade from 6.0 to 7.0, but even after this I could not upgrade from 7.0 to 7.2. In SAMINC I can upgrade from 6.0 to 7.2, so it may be data related. At the time Sage support was not taking calls on Payroll 7.2, but you may want to try them now.

I am upgrading Sage 300 2012 CP60 to Sage 300 2016 CP 72. I have put the PU5 on and when I try to activate the CP7.2, I get the error: System error: unable to modify CPCHKD table. There is a knowledgebase article 41672 about the issue but says it is under investigation. Here is the solution: "Rename the SQL database for the company in question, and set up a new SQL Database with lots of extra space. Perform a data integrity check, and rerun the database conversion.

This solution came from a partner. It resolved the error at multiple sites, but has not been tested by Sage."

I do not understand this solution. Do I have to create a new database and load the existing data in there and then try to activate so basically get rid of the existing database and do a new one with the exact same data? Not very clear.
