Good Template for Importing Files into "Asset Management - Asset Acquisition"

Merry Christmas Everybody,

Before I left my office for Christmas Eve Thursday night, I was struggling with the very clumsy and unwieldy asset acquisition data entry process of the norming asset management module of our Sage 300 system. I had noticed and thought about changing the whole process to Excel file importing. Does anyone have any good template for that and would like to share or give some guidance? I have no problem building one myself, but I am just curious if there are already some really handy ones out there.

Hi Alex,

Merry Chrisetmas. You can create an acquisition entry firstly, then export it, and then maintain ASSETNO field with ***NEW***, then you can use it to import into Acquisition, new asset ID will…

Please tell me what's your acquisition code with, for GL, AP, IC, PJC? Then I can create a sample template to you.

Hi Lika,

Sorry I noticed it this late. Our acquisition code is GLJE. Hope you can still enlighten me on this.

I had some initial success already but I still find the data entry quite cumbersome and I am trying to use formulas and an additional data entry tab to make things much easier and faster.

My main questions are:

1. What in the exported file could be changed or simplified and could still be imported back into Sage 300?

2. Can I delete certain tabs in the exported file that I we left emplty?

3. Can the file to be imported have functions in them?
