Can bank statements be imported into the bank reconciliation module in a format other than OFX?If not how can OFX statements be obtained? Is not that ancient technology?
OFX = open financial exchange, this is not ancient technology.
Some banks (not all) allow you to download OFX, these might also be named Money format or Quicken format, or I've even seen QFX.
Sadly most banks seem to live in the dark ages when it comes to OFX.
You can only import OFX files into the bank statement. If your bank does not have an OFX download then download text files and convert them to OFX (this gets a bit technical beyond the average user). I write VBA macros that parse text files into OFX format. There are also Excel macros that do this and some other utilities online. OFX files are just XML files with specific tags (or field names).
So in summary:
1. If your bank has an OFX download then you are good to go
2. If you bank does not have an OFX download then download text files and convert to OFX
Greytrix has an import for CSV
