Have you try to use Instance Name on database setup instead of IP?

do you mean server name, not odbc Data source,  If so , yes I have tried both

Thanks Will I did see that one and tried it all.  Waiting on a remote dial in from Sage but it seems really odd.  I just upgraded to 2014 and issue still exists,  its environmental but I dont know what

Does the client sql user have sysadmin or dbcreator rights?

This isn't a database problem, it's a DLL/OS problem.  

Is this a 64-bit OS?  

Is UAC turned off?

Maybe DEP needs to be off?

FWIW, you can copy an empty xxxxUNI database to {your database}UNI, then edit CSAPP and add the lines you need.  The Uni products never hit the DATADICT.  The changer products are the same way.  This is a simple cheat when those old (16-bit?) activators aren't happy on a 64 bit OS.

The answer was there was mutliple paths in my environment variables.  Did not think this would be an issue but it resolved the issue straight away when one was removed

Conflicting paths are always bad, I would say that conflicting paths are the cause of most problems in Accpac.
