Why?

Orchid has informed us that discrepancies in these fields are the reason our recent inventory physical count resulted in bogus costs.

And what is their recommended solution?

They didn't really have one. They tossed around an idea involving getting a macro but it won't know which figure is correct (the lot amount  or the IC amount).

So there you go, you can't automate something that doesn't have a clear rule defined.  

As a professional Sage integrator, I'm very, very leary of "fixing" numbers in the lot/serial tables, whether by macro or SQL query, there will be unintended side effects. And, fixing the data downstream doesn't address the root cause.  

Without knowing any more details, I look at this as a 1-2 day project to figure out the cause, test the fix, and analyze any side effects.

Yes, we'd rather go through the painful manual process of individual adjustment/transactions per item number/lot number to fix vs having a mass change. However, I don't see any functions within the program that allows the user to do this from the front-end.
