We use OrionPOS. We like it as you can use off the shelf hardware like a regular windows PC. The support is very good. It does our remote locations with an offline mode which is really useful. We don't have much experience with anything else. We once used SagePOS but Sage dropped it.

Thanks- I did not know about that site. Do you know if a forum exists for third party modules? I guess I could post on Sage City but I see very little 3rd party posts. Because our support in Canada is six hours behind we are scrambling to fix a problem at 8am when the shops open and forums like this are really helpful.
No, there's no forum specifically for 3rd-party products. Sage City is the best place to post about 3rd-party products. Lots of knowledgeable people here. Plus the 3rd-party developers tend to monitor this site. Or just contact the developer directly. Yeah, time zones are a pain - especially for mission critical apps like POS. It should be a big consideration in your purchasing decision.
Thanks for views on this. Will try Sage City next time to see if anyone can help with third party. That's a good point to bear time zones in mind when choosing product. Some of our shops have POS 'remotes' (have their own MS SQL Express Db on them) and that gives breathing space!
