Adding a calclulated field to BI report data

I'm trying to add a calculated field (concatenating 2 existing data fields) to my BI report. I tried adding it to SHEET1 but it ignores the inserted column when the raw data is imported. I tried setting up a SHEET2 to move the imported data into and do the calculation but it won't repeat for all rows of data (variable number of imported rows occur on creation). I tried to create a calculated field in the Pivot table but can't seem to get commands that use text to work, i.e. concatenate. Any suggestions?
