I'm not certain what's going on as I haven't tried to jump to a specific row without having a key value.

If you're doing it on the screen I'd consider moving the data source control. Or disconnect the data source, browse two records down, get the ID, reconnect the data source and call .read.

I am using the views directly without the OCX dropped on userform1

I think the method " .gotorecordnumber " is only valid if there is a screen grid active otherwise everything works as a single data record buffer setup
