Sage Accpac.Advantage dll for integration into a custom application.

Hi,

I have written a c# application that uses accpac.advantage to reach out and get various data from the sage 300 views. Currently I have tested this and it works just fine on the Server install machine.

The issue I am having is I wondered if this same process can be utilized to run that dll from a client machine and if so, how is it done (any additional installs etc?).

Install Sage on that PC with workstation setup.

Thanks a lot. When you say to "install Sage" on that workstation PC what parts of the Sage install are you referring to? I realize I can install the whole system and then just point to the server's data location. But what I was hoping was that only a portion of the install could be done - For example maybe the “Sage 300 ERP .Net Libraries" option only. The smaller the footprint on the client computer, the more desirable it would be. I'd have guessed that if they could have just had a minimum setup and only the Sage .Net Dlls, (accpac.advantage for ex) but I am trying to find out what the minimum requirements would be to run on client and use the server to keep the footprint small as possible.

Does the WSSETUP workstation option install the Sage 300 ERP .Net Libraries component? Running through the Setup.exe in the WSSETUP directory on the server it appears to be a basic installation without any of the components or options of the full install. Is there a way to run a simple workstation installation while choosing individual components such as the Sage 300 ERP .Net Libraries option? Does the WSSETUP workstation install include the components for the ACCPAC.Advantage namespace?

if that is the case, what specifically is the smallest or shortest path to having a client machine that is able to use the .Net libraries to connect to a server Sage 300 instance? Do you need to do a full install where you have to supply a license etc just to get the .Net libraries and connect to the server?

Workstation setup + run smdotnet.exe found in the Runtime folder on the server.

Even we have full installation, we still get issues. Do not make trouble by yourself. Just install WSSTUP at least. If you concern so much installations, licenses, just do not use the API and talk to database/tables directly then.

This would be great for simple programs. Try it with PJC or OE. We tend to use the AccpacCOM API.
