Which view? Which fields?

I want to filter on Datermit.

Filtering on a Max(field) in a Group By query? Good luck with that.

I am attempting to get the date of the last payment for the invoice. The other field that I cannot filter on is taxable.

I am attempting to get a list of invoices that have been fully paid in a specific time period. I am generating a sales tax report on a cash basis. Currently I can generate the report with all invoices and have to use the Excel filter to limit the results.

You're better off adjusting that part of the query to use a sub-select. Then it becomes a regular field instead of an aggregate.

try to put in having instead of where

Can my sub-select have a left join in it? I am having a lot of trouble with my sub-select clause. Also, I attempted using having instead of where and that did not work.

If there is no value in TheOtherTable then your select statement will return NULL. One way around that:
ISNULL(
(SELECT TOP 1 YourDateField FROM TheOtherTable WHERE TheSourceTable.Field=MainQuery.Field ORDER BY YourDateField DESC)
,0)

And, just because, if you have multiple tables in a sub-select then you need to go back to old style SQL:
(SELECT TOP 1 YourDateField FROM TheFirstOtherTable, TheSecondOtherTable WHERE TheFirstOtherTable.Field=TheSecondOtherTable.Field AND TheFirstOtherTable.SecondField=MainQuery.Field ORDER BY YourDateField DESC)

Let me go back to my first question? Why are some fields available to filter on and others not. I changed my sql statement and added to the where clause [artcr].datermit > a certain date and it works fine. I also found that the shpstate is not available to filter and that is just a straight forward field from the main table.

Are only fields from the primary table available for the filter?

Try changing your AS to a different name from the table column name and see if that helps explain what may be happening
