CRM 2019R2 with Sage 300 2019 PU4 - Merge companies in CRM doesn't work

Question

When merging two companies in CRM where one is linked to a Sage 300 customer record and the other one isn't the merge complains about the tax code and fails to merge. 
 Does anyone know how to fix this?
