How does Microsoft ending Windows XP Support affect Sage 500 ERP?

Less than one minute read time.

As you may or may not know, Microsoft is ending its support for Microsoft Windows XP as of April 8, 2014. Once Microsoft stops support for Windows XP, Sage will also stop supporting Sage 500 on computers using Windows XP.

Please note that Sage 500 ERP 2014 is not compatible with computers running Windows XP. Also, any future product updates for existing Sage 500 ERP versions like 2014, 2013, and 7.4 will not be compatible with Windows XP.

Going forward, in addition to security concerns, there is the increased risk that some features and functionality of Sage 500 will stop working on Windows XP because updates released after April 8, 2014 will not be tested or verified on computers running Windows XP. Sage 500 customers not on a supported version of Windows will need to upgrade to a supported version of Windows in order to install Sage 500 ERP updates.
The same applies to Windows Server 2003.
