We are planning to release the 1099 updates in Mid December

If you are on Sage 500 ERP 2013 (Version 7.50.0.0), is there a download that will not affect our version and all our customizations? We are waiting for a stable 2016 version to do the upgrade.

The 1099 updates to be delivered for tax year (TY) 2015 will affect the usual 1099 applications and reports. However, due to an IRS checkbox addition (FATCA), a modification to the Maintain Vendors (apzma001) is also a part of the 1099 update for TY 2015.

The upcoming 2016 version of Sage 500 ERP actually has more TY 2015 related changes in it, and we intentionally did not put all of them in the previous version updates to minimize effects on customizations.

So will it be a stand alone update or will we need to run the January cumulative server and client updates ?

I believe Sage 500 ERP releases a stand-alone update in December that only contains the 1099 related updates, and then places those 1099 changes in the following January PU. So, if you only want the 1099 updates and do not want the PU, that will work. Just keep in mind that this year's updates do include the modification to a non-1099 application (Maintain Vendors), which makes the stand-alone update for TY 2015 a little different. And to support the change to Maintain Vendors, a nullable field is being added to tapVendor.

When is the 2016 upgrade coming out?

I hear in a few weeks but I'd wait for official response from a SAGE person.

Does the 1099 update come with the form download for HP printers or do we need to download the electronic form from the I.R.S.?

You can file electronically from Mas to the Feds but need to purchase the forms to send to the Contractors.

The 1099 report forms are calibrated to the official IRS 1099 forms. We ordered them directly from the IRS (free).
