The technical hurdles for using SQL Server 2012 on an older version of Sage 500 ERP, such as 7.4x, is that Microsoft has obseleted some of the T-SQL statements. A code change was necessary to replace the deprecated statements.

I am not sure I know which compatibility warnings you mean, can you please provide an example?

We still on 7.4.4 and we get popups stating that the database is not compatible , but after reading the update notes, it looks like sage took these out in future versions.  

It looks like we will need to test things a bit .

When you are doing your testing a few things you may want to do as well.

1. Use SQL Profiler to capture activity on Deprecated

   - There are 2 Events that you can capture: Deprecation Announcement, Deprecation Final Support

2. Look at the list of deprecated functions

   -  technet.microsoft.com/.../ms143729.aspx

3. This will return all deprecated features that have been used since the last service restart

    select instance_name, cntr_value

         from sys.dm_os_performance_counters

         where [object_name] like '%Deprecated%'

             and cntr_value > 0

4. Perfmon

   - This can be captured from from perfmon as well using following object: SQLServer:Deprecated Features

5. Use SQL Server Extended Events to identify (this is the predecessor SQL Profiler)
